Collection: Hand Tufted

Hand tufted rugs involve stenciling a pattern on the backing of the rug and then threading yarns into the design. Hand tufted rugs are created with loops of yarn pulled through the rug’s backing material using a hand-held tool. The loops are then sheared to create a smooth cut-pile surface. Hand tufted rugs require a layer of cloth on the back to keep the loops in place. Hand tufted rugs do not require the same level of skill or work as hand knotted rugs and therefore can be produced more easily and inexpensively. Hand tufted rugs tend to shed more than other rugs and may require more frequent vacuuming.
